I need a hobby!

I need a hobby (or some local friends)
The BF and I were talking about that the other day and that I need to find something interesting and fun to do besides going to school. Yet at the same time school does take up some valuable free time so that in a way is my current hobby.
Nevertheless, I am on a mission to find some thing to do. I have no idea! I used to paint and would love to get back into it. I want to learn to use oils by taking a few classes. But right now that is not in the cards. Time and expense wise, oil painting is a very expensive hobby.
So the next thing I am interested in is photography. I would love how to learn more techniques to take photos, learn h ow to develop print and just improve my technique. Again, time and money are limited.
I would love to take cooking classes too.
I am not interested in sewing or knitting so that is out of the question. I read a lot as is and it is hard to find a good book club like the one that I was in when I lived in NYC.
So I need to find something to do that I can squeeze into my schedule until after school is over and until the expenses have stabilized. Any ideas?

I've been wanting to take a cooking class, so I had some info that I saved recently:

Flavour Cooking School:
http://www.flavourcookingschool.com

Discovery Center has a few cooking classes, but not a lot to choose from:
http://www.discoverycenter.cc/

And Cafe Ba-ba-reeba teaches a class in preparing Paella, if you like that type of dish. Mom, sis & I were thinking about doing a "girls day" and taking the class.
You even get a free cookbook! :)

There are a few restaurants around town that teach classes as well. Check www.Metromix.com and search on cooking classes, you might be able to find something.

Oh and check the Chicago Park District's website. Parks that are near you may have classes that may be of interest.

And if you're into card-making (like my sis is) and have the time, she frequents a store called Stampology on Harlem Ave that teaches classes every week. She has brought home some of the neatest projects!

Good luck! :) Babalooooo! ;)

You could start a blog. Hahahahaha, I'm so not funny. Digital photography is sorta cheap, especially if you don't develop anything, but a cheap camera means lousy photos.

Hmmm, I'll have to think about it.

Scrapbooking,
Guitar lessons
create a recipe book of all your "family traditional" meals.

Blogging....What, isn't that a hobby???

UM...OH, if you are going to do the cooking, Racheal Ray, 1/2 hour meals...best!

tap dance class....

So what do you think?!?!?!
