Missing: Grey Matter and Memory, contact if found

I am losing it again and now I am starting to get worried. First it was the jewelry that has going MIA after the beginning of July, then it was the forgotten Target bag now it is a library book. I had it with me yesterday, it came to work with me, it was put in the car with me. The only stop between work and my abode was the gas station where, for the duration of the gas guzzling, I was standing right by the car. When I got home I vegged then went to clean up a few things (an play with my new pick phone) and went to look for said novel. I want to finish said novel but said novel was nowhere to be found. So I assumed it was in my car, perhaps it fell out of my bag.

This morning when I checked....it was not in my car nor was it in work. I hope to God that it is at the flat under a pile of stuff that has been dumped on my dining room table. Otherwise I am in deep poop!

Ok so far, I have gotten fine lines and now memory loss. It sucks to be old and I am not 30...yet! Grrrrr

Lady of Leisure

I am back at work...bleech!

I got used to the leisure life of sleeping in, watching tv/dvds, cleaning, updating my photo albums, cooking only to have it interrupted now with work. Not to mention it is a cold wet grey day. Grrr

On the upside, I had a great weekend (as always) with the boyfriend and Yukon the tub dog. I made a really yummy dinner on Friday that consisted of pork chops alla pizzola with rissoto a salad with my homemade Dijon dressing and homemade chocolate chip cookies. It was very good and nobody got sick! Then for breakfast on Saturday it was nutella, strawberries, bananas and crossiants. Yum, I was quite pleased that it all worked out and that it was all edible. Major plus.

GP and I waited all day on Saturday for the cable guy who never showed...long story there. Afterwards we had a bite to eat and went to see "Little Miss Sunshine". It was such a great movie, I really enjoyed it. It will be a dvd to own! Yesterday, we had another quiet day waiting for the no-show cable guy and then went to get groceries.

Now it is back to the grind but I am looking for openings for "lady of leisure", if you know of one, please pass my name along!

Just can't win

Well not with my mom. I have decided not to say anything because I am damned one way or another...

It started with my invtation that I sent out via evite and I invited mom and dad just because if I did not then I would be damned. Well mom called me today to say that she *would* like to come but that she would feel out of place as my friends are coming and she "just won't fit in". But it was up to me....what do I say? I said nothing because again I can't win. Then she mentions that she and my dad want to come out in September but that I am going to Vegas so maybe they will come in October..."if I want them".

I just can't win with her! It pisses me off!

I could get used to this

So I have been on vacation for the past few days and I can get used to it. My apt is almost spotless (getting there), I am reading, watching the West Wing and sleeping in. Today JT and I are going to go to the beach and then I get a new cell phone!

It is strange in a way because when I am not working I am usually with GP. But he is working so I am not sure what to do with myself. Weird how you get used to this.

Last night I sent out my invitation for my b'day party. JC, LW and Maria are coming from out east to celebrate and so far a few locals are going to go. I selected a really awesome venue and we all should have a great time. I am so excited.

Off to the beach.....

Pillow fort

I had such another good weekend with the boyfriend...despite the pillow fort and blanket stealing. :)

I started my week vacation on Friday at 4:30 and I headed straight to GP's house! That evening we headed out to eat and just vegged out. Same with Saturday except that I got to pet puppies, there were these tiny little shih tuz puppies that were so adorable! GP liked the pile of boxer puppies. They were all too adorable. I so want one, just a shih tuz!

Chicago had the air and water show along the waterfront. So all weekend youw ould hear the planes fly above and shake the windows. We did see the Blue Angels fly overhead in formation and heard them over and over. Of course it is when I wanted to nap. I fell asleep on the sofa at GP's house on Saturday night while he did some things here and there and then had some awesome pizza and ran more errands. We ended the night curled on the couch with Yukon on the floor watching Amadaus.

Yesterday, GP, his brother "Surly", and I went out west to their niece's birthday. She turned 5 and fun was had by all. I also got to meet another of GP's brother and his wife. But I had fun in te car listening to GP and Surly banter back and forth. It is so cute how they just crack each other up. I also got to see GP's dad at the party and he is a great person. Very witty and smart!

In other family news, I am going to be a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding. His fiance asked me and I was not expecting it. She was very sweet about it and I did appreciate that. I was not really thinking that I would be asked. I know that I've been a bit stand-offish and somewhat bitter but I have to put that behind me and move forward and see what happens

I am off all this week! I am so glad to be out of the office for an entire week! I don't have any plans but I do hope to go to the beach, get a new cell phone(!), clean, read, sleep. Although I feel that I am playing hooky, I will get over it! See over it now!

30 till 30

In 30 days I will turn 30. I can't believe it, it was hard to turn 29 but 30 I am okay with. It is just that all the memory lapses of late that have me a bit worried. Does it all go downhill from here? Or is it that sometimes I have so much going at once that my brain can't stop? So I will try and enjoy my last few days of my 20s.

My final was not too painful. I think that I did okay, the test seemed a bit easier to me than the mid term. Possibly because I knew at least the style of the exam and I studied my ass off. I am glad to now have a few weeks to read, sleep, watch the west wing and other dvds.

I feel a bit cranky today. I am not sure why part of it is how I am again being screwed at work and the missing jewelry. I am missing a ring, a bracelet and pair of earrings. I know that the last time I had them was on July 4th now, the have gone MIA. I've been looking for them for ages but alas they have not been found. I am really bummed because the ring and earrings were gifts from my parents, in fact the ring was given to me when I was 12 or 13 (yes it still fits) and the bracelet was one of my first jewelry purchases when I saved my babysitting money. So they are sentimental. As you can see this is why I am worried that I am starting to lose it!

How many days till I am on vacation?

I am tired and not feeling good. I think because the weather is changing and the temperatures are dropping and rising that it is affecting the barometric pressure and thus the headaches. Plus I am a bit tired, I'm not really sure why though but I will definitely catch up on sleep this weekend and then next week when I am off.

Yesterday, I got to speak to PK. I've not spoken to him in ages and he was on my list of people to call tomorrow after my exam. It was great to catch up with him and see what is going on with him. He was glad to hear that things are going very well with the GP and he is happy that I am happy, he said that I deserve it and that is for sure. We are hoping to get together soon with our significant others. JT also called me and you know it is going to be an interesting chat when he starts off the conversation with "Am I a horrible person?"

I am ready for the final tonight. I want it out of the way. By 7 it will be all over and I can go home put on the jammies and turn on the west wing and drink...

Gearing up for Economics....and my 100th posting

so last night as I was drifting to sleep and all that I could think about was the aggregate supply and demand curves along with the Keynesian cross. Only one more day until I get all of these thoughts out of my head! It is weird how the brain works! Thursday is pedicure day to treat myself after a long summer of classes.

So after Wednesday, I will be free for two weeks...no school. Then next week I am off for a week. I would love to go shopping but alas the coffers are dry. Hopefully, I will catch up on magazines, books, dvds and sleep. Plus I want to go to the Art institute and will probably try to see JT.

Oh I had such a stupid moment yesterday. I went to Target and I bought a few things and the cashier put the items in two bags and lo and behold I got home with only one. I left the second bag at the store. I called and they are holding it for me. It was such a dumb ass thing of me to do. I swear I am losing my mind...more and more each day. Wait what was I saying....ack.

I turn 30 in a few weeks. Does it all go down from here???

20 questions

It was another wonderful weekend with the GP boyfriend. I have so much fun with him. On Friday his television departed this world so on Saturday we went to look at a few . He got one, a nice flat screen 32" tv. Lovely picture and it is his new toy. He is pleased as punch with his new purchase and I think that by tomorrow most of the manual will have been read and when I see him next, it will be more for the features than what is on the tv!

However, he was subjected to a round of 20-ish or more questions from the Midwest mama. She and Midwest pop had a bbq that we went to on Saturday. It was the first time that she and Tim met and she gave him a run for his money. She passed him through the ringer and back again. But he passed with flying colors and got an invite for Thanksgiving. He was so gracious to her and was able to trade wits with her that she loved him. It was rough and he handled it well, I was very proud of him. He is such a great guy! the food was awesome...pulled pork, ribs that melted off of the bone, polenta, jalepeno poppers wrapped in bacon, brownie oatmeal cookies, fried raviloi and carrot cake muffins. Yum!!! When we got home we vegged with the dog watching mythbusters experiment with diet coke and mentos!

We had breakfast with the tom kittens yesterday and then hit our store...Target. That place is awesome. I did some studying and helped him clean. He made me a great dinner last night and we watched some of his cartoon network dvds before crashing.

I adore him!

Stupid is as stupid does

"The late one" is on his last legs here or so I've been told and I am on the verge of going and screaming at him. His laziness, his tardiness his incompetence is affecting me and the quality of my work. It really irks me about how people like that get by, seriously. It is sad that the world caters to lazy people and I am one of those who happen to facilitate that. But what can you do, everyone deals with this in work, school and life.

Also freaking me out today is the news about the arrestes in the UK. London is my second home, I love the UK. so it just shake anyone up to hear the news. Will it ever end, nope I don't think it will. Hate is so deep rooted and you can't ever get rid of it. I mean we went into Iraq to "free the people" and what happens, military personal parade naked POWs around in leashes, the US has troops who killed a 21 people including children over a suspect. Some troops have raped and killed a girl and her entire family. Plus the number of civilian casualties that have happened...do you think that this will be forgotten? Do you think that the survivors think "Well they did this to bring us freedom?"

In my lifetime, I have never been so scared than the past 5 year. America's innocence (abet a tarnished one) was lost on 9/11 and it will never come back. America now suspects everyone and everyone suspect us. The cycle will not end.

Clean bill

Went to my post-op yesterday and all is ok. I'm very happy! I can now put this behind me and move forward.

GP was right, it was just a small bump on the road!

Weekend quotes

I had a wonderful weekend with my boyfriend. I just adore him, we really had such a great time! Here are some highlights:

Jazz showcase with his brother. On the way we were on the Red line when these ghetto girls walked in and sat near us. They were lacking some general grammatical skills and one of them had a baby. Tey proceeded to have a conversation about who was ulgieeeee and yo mama. the quote that was classic was "Oh my gawd, she shitted herself. Damn she in't (yep In't) going to make it to 47. Oh well tese people will have to hold der lungs." Then we had this man behind us who was clearly trying to impress these girls (why I will never understand) and said that he was trying to get some money as he was related to an African Queen. When asked how much it is worth his reply "I don't know, 10 billion dollars". GP and I got off and we both felt like our IQ fell a few hundred points. The story was worth telling and it amused his brother to no end.

The Jazz showcase was really unique. I am not familiar with jazz and this was my first introduction to the music forum. I enjoyed it a lot, the musicians in essence just jammed and then their music would come together. It was very fun. GP and I then had a late dinner at Portillo's. It was yummy!

Well we grabbed breakfast then went downtown to see the Tall Ships Chicago. We walked along the river and the lake. Afterwards we walked down State to hit a few stores and grabbed a bite back near his house. Last night we saw "Strangers With Candy" it was ok, had its funny bits.

We had a nice breakfast and then went to get groceries. Then we went our separate ways. JT baled on his shopping trip. Oh well! It is not my issue and it is so typical of him.

So it was a very good weekend.

Carvel truck spotted, memories of Sugarpuss and Fudgy the Whale ensue

So I was driving into work this morning and decided to take the local roads rather than the expressway because of the bad weather that plagued the area last night. so there I was in my car and I see a truck ahead of me...the name was familiar. It was a Carvel truck! For those who are unfamiliar with Carvel here is the scoop (no pun intended, ok maybe a wee pun)...

Carvel was founded in 1934 by Tom Carvel and his family. It was this ice cream store that specialized in soft ice cream. The very first Carvel was located in Hartsdale, NY which is my hometown. The store is still standing and it was one of the places that my parents would take us now and then. Carvel also specialized in ice cream cakes Sugarpuss and Fudgy the Whale. Sugarpuss was this cake in the shape of a cartoon creation with sugar cone ice cream nose. Fudgy the Whale was this ice cream cake in the shape of the whale. Now each of their cakes has a cookie crumble that separates the two halves. That was the best part of the entire cake. In fact, my cousin worked in his local store when he was in high school so when we had family dinners he would bring the dessert and make sure it was loaded with the cookie crumble.

So on my way to work I was craving a piece of ice cream cake from Carvel. They do not have Carvel in IL (or at least I don't think so). So it brought back memories of my dad's old blue car, the treks to Carvel after dinner, the memorial day parade where the local fire dept would give each kid a ice cream cookie afterwards, family dinners were my cousins and I would try to see what piece had the most cookies crumbles...such sweet innocent. It made me happy this morning...just seeing a Carvel truck

Vegas baby

Yep, we are going to Vegas in September! My friends J9 and TS are getting married in vegas (no not by Elvis) and my boyfriend and I are going to go. Vegas has never been on my places to go before I get old list but it will be an interesting jaunt. I am not a gambler nor do I have the funds to go shopping at the posh stores (although I wish that I did!) so I am not sure what to expect. I wasn't surprised at the amount of places to stay but I was surprised at some of the prices! I guess when you pay for the Palms, the Bilaggio and the Venetian you get all that comes with it. So we are booked to head west for a weekend in September! I am looking forward to just getting out of town!

It has still been bloody hot. Last night I just camped out in my bedroom as that is the only room with the AC. Oh and I made a mojito althought it was not as good as the one GP made me the other day. I think the key was that his had mango rum and I just had regular rum. Dominck's did not have the mango rum that he used...weird. It was good nonetheless and well it helped me sleep!

Tonight I have class and that brings the total to two classes and one night of finals before my summer session is over. It was harder than I t thought it would be to take summer classes probably because it is sunny longer, there are tons of things to do and I am stuck inside reading accounting and economics when I would rather stroll the street fairs, go to the beach and just have fun. Oh well the price that you pay for education not to mention that I want to be done by next December!

Work is a bit busy but it will be busier later this week with a day long training. It will be interesting since this is my bread and butter product knowledge and I will see two sales reps who I have not seen in ages. I am looking forward to that.

Oh and I have a sty again! I hate those buggers. I have gone for years without them and even them I have only gotten them once or twice. I the past 4 weeks I have had two. Grrr. I woke up at 3:45 feeling it coming through and have already put a hot compress on it this morning.

Help me Jebus

Supply and demand

So my econ mid-term was last night and it was ok. It was more theory than actual problems so I was not expected that much theory but I think that I did ok. I have to read 3 chapters for tomorrow's class. I only have 3 more classes until the final exam then it is all done and then I will be able to take my week off! My vacation is in a three weeks and I am going to sleep and do what I want to do...can't wait.

Work is a bit busy for me possibly because CLA is off but it makes the day go by. Except for the lack of support from the late one. I swear I can't fathom his horrible work ethic and it is affecting me so much! It is damn annoying!

The temperatures have gotten worse and it is expected to be 100 today! I have my ac on at home at night and I think tonight I will camp out in my bedroom to stay cool!
